      I can crack my back by pulling the skin..

      After a car accident, I was in physical therapy, and while I was face down on the table, one of the therapists was moving my back and made a comment about my skin being easy to work with. She then grabbed a pinch of skin right over my spine and pulled upward. My spine popped! I asked if she just cracked my back by pulling up the skin. She said yes. Wow. So I tried it myself. It works! I reach around my lower back with both arms and grab my skin on either side of my spine and pull out. I can get one or two solid cracks there. I also reach over my shoulder and grab with one hand between the tops of my shoulder blades and I get one solid crack there.

      Also, I found I can do this technique on my elbows! I love that one.
      I seem to recall trying this on my knees and I don't remember it being successful.

      @MasterCracker said:

      Rebuild the joints ligaments? Unnatural Hypermobility?
      Your saying: be less mobile w the joint so the ligament becomes LESS flexible and more stiff.
      That would seem counter productive and a recipe for injury:

      when a stiff or tight ligament is pushed past its normal ROM it will sprain and inflame and Hurt.

      Increased ROM/mobility is a good thing.

      Hyperflexability is a good thing
      Joints can be hyperflexible and strong
      STRONGER even
      Not mobilizing joints will make them weak and tight and injury prone.

      The video is indeed interesting. However, I do not agree this level of hypermobility is healthy.

      I did not mean that you should aim for stiff joints, which is clearly unhealthy, too. "Hypermobility" by its very name implies the mobility is "above" normal. I would thus personally aim for "normal" mobility.
      Last time I checked hypermobile joints are not healthy, also see What Are Hypermobile Joints?

      I read in the newspaper today about Angelina Jolie's veins sticking out of her arms a lot like a body builders. They were saying how strange it was for a 6 month old woman to have thin arms. They said it was due to her excessive work outs and dieting.

      Furthermore, a scientist said that veins that stick out is, if you have very little fat underneath.

      So i thought about my hands and how i am thin and i keep getting told to eat and now think that it is bad and dangerous.

      @akillian:

      About 8 days ago i woke up with horrible pain in my shoulder and right arm just below my shoulder. because warnth would relieve the pain somewhat everyone says its a pulled tendon. The right side of my neck is so stiff its unbearable, self cracking does nothing to help. There is a valley you could lay your arm in at the base of my neck and it sounds like its filled with rice crispies. the shoulder muscle is stiff and hurts steady all the time and the muscle in my arm on the outside of the arm just below my shoulder hurts so bad it bring tears to my eyes and makes me sick. i got laid of and lost my insurance 12/24 and my new insurance wont kick in for another 30 days. thank g*d i have a stockpile of ibuprophen. i'm just wondering if anyone has ever had a simular experiance and can give me some advice on how to deal with this. im positive its all related to my neck somehow.

      I am sorry for the pain your in and I know what it feels like to have shoulder pain so severe. Mine hurts from can't see in the morning to can't see at night. My bone feel like they are rubbing in my shoulder and it pops worst than a bag of jiffy pop popcorn.

      @Akkenru:

      Well, think about it guys…what part of you has the most bones?

      Your hands and feet, they have over 100 bones in them collectively...bones meet at joints. There are 16 very movable joints in the hand, including the wrist...there are a few others that move very slightly, the feet are similar, with 14 very movable joints and a few that move slightly...add that up and that's 60 really movable joints.

      There are only 23 joints in the spinal column if you discount fused vertebrae. The ribs (of which you have 24), make 24 joints with the spinal column and attach to the sternum with long pieces of cartilage which I wouldn't call joints myself, but if you want...there's about 10 of them, 2 of which are a massive array of cojoined cartilage on each side.

      Spinal column is huge then!!

      cracking my big toe distal is a fav, can't crack the left though,
      Start with my toe, then ankle,knee,sometimes my hip will,then my spine although i know peole who can i can't click the invertabre between my shoulders. Neck is easy then a do the left shoulder, right won't crack, wrists most digits.left thumb won't crack but that's since a little accident and a few stiches,then my nose and i am done.
      Still i'ld love to get a few more spinal cracks in.

      I also felt minor aches in my neck and back(spinal twists) before I started stretching daily to strengthen my joints and improve my ROM and by default my cracking.
      but
      I have also lost ROM in my neck from 'sleeping the wrong way'
      and
      had back pain from sitting in the car for long periods of time
      All Normal

      The graph above shows a "sprain" zone
      there are 3 types of sprains(some say 4) mild moderate and severe
      the latter involving swelling even severe swelling and immobilization, w a tear or partial tear of the ligament
      ligaments are REALLY STRONG
      it usually takes an accident or force of momentum to truly "sprain" a ligament

      I don't believe joint cracking could do that.

      Any movement pushed past it's ROM could cause a 'mild sprain"
      like An ache in the neck from cracking your neck 2 fast or 2 hard using the force of momentum,
      But I don't believe you could tear a ligament and Actually sprain your neck, w severe swelling and immobilization, by cracking.

      yes i love talking about joint cracking:roll:
      Don't you 😉

      @rice-milk I can crack both of my palms for some reason all I do is move my hand a certain way as if I were to be cracking my wrist, kinda like I’m squeezing something in my hand I don’t know how or why but? It works for me if I were to put my finger on the palm of my other hand I can actually feel the bones/joints move .
