Yes, there is a high probability that joint cracking is due to an OCD
About 24 hours ago, I started another experiment forcing me by willpower not to crack any joints on purpose.

I'll see how long I can keep restraining this desire.

  • Jointcracker the way you talk about cracking your knuckles, you make it sound like if you were addicted to heroin. The funny thing is I am also addicted to cracking my back like that too. I was thinking about talking to my doctor about that to see if there was some kind of problem. I have not done it yet because I find myself asking that to be kind of ridiculous. Have you tried discussing that with your doctor joint cracker?

I am still unsure about the causes of my desire to crack joints. Currently, I am indeed following the assumption it is an addiction. For the last couple of days I have been trying to surpress the desire to crack joints with mixed results.
It will take much more observation time to come to any meaningful conclusions.

I have discussed my joint cracking desire and pressure feelings with doctors multiple times. At worst I was ridiculed. At best they were not of any help at all. I have long given up talking to doctors about this or I would not have started this community.

Maybe when we gather more information we will be wiser and be able to convince some expert medical staff to take a serious look at the problem.

  • The best way to solve this problem - stop cracking.

I get headaches too when i cracking my neck. Especially when i wake up and do it - this is also when i can get multiple cracks on both sides of my neck.

  • Wow
Seems to me you guys are trying to suppress a normal body function.
    I get ocd tendencies myself.
Mobilizing your joints often is not bad unless you are whipping your neck around like the excorcist all the time.

  • if you haven't seen that movie though.

I haven't because i hate horror movies and they are sick and the people who make them must have something in their brain because some of the stuff is just incredibly sick and disturbing.

  • Yeah, I think thats the idea.
They all ready scared you huh.

I disagree. It is usually the case that when I crack my neck it relieves some stiffness and allows me to relax thus elminating the headache factor.

Actually, this is the case for most things (cracked) .. this ismy reason for making a habit out of the cracking procedure…. In fact, sometimes my joint will ache and put me in pain unless I crack them ...

  • X i agree, like my back first thing in the morning…

  • Yeh it feels nice initially then the headaches come.
