Just wondered....

I play the bass in a band, and often my fingertips get really really cold for no reason. It's worse in the hand that i crack more, and i wondered if anyone else got this?

When i say cold, i mean extremely cold and it doesnt seem to help if i shake out my hands or anything. Could cracking your fingers/any other joint damage your circulation?

Im trying to stop but i find it very hard to play my bass when i need to click my fingers!

Also, does anyone feel hightended stress levels when trying to abstain from cracking?

Robyn

Personally, I cannot identify with this. This has not happend to me. Maybe someone else can? I doubt joint cracking has an effect on blood circulation in the flesh surrounding the stretched liagments.

Oh yes. Isn't that a typical symptom of addiction therapy? I believe so.
By abstaining you put physiological stress on the liagments which are so darn used to being constantly stretched.

With time I hope these pains will diminish and go away so you won't be so suspecticble to cracking your joints because of emotional stress in live.

There are studies linking stress and drug abuse. Of course these studies are on heroin and other chemical drugs and might not fully apply here but some of this information might be also valid for joint cracking...

I certainly feel much stronger desire to pop all over whenever I am in stress!

I don't have that but when i used to play the guitar - electric and i used to pluck the strings (no plectum sorry about spelling) it would hurt a lot and my fingers would feel like they needed to be cracked after like 15 mins. It also, if contorted in some way, would send throbs of pain.
