Hey Guys,

Just wondering if anyone else has what I have. I'm 22 now, but back in the 6th grade, I remember one day feeling like my left shoulder really really really had to crack. My library teacher wouldn't let my friend try to do it for me, so I went all day with this discomfort. I tried cracking it myself, but it didn't work. The next day I woke up and it was cracking every time I moved it.
This hasn't stopped since. In fact, it has spread to most of my body.

My toes, ankles, knees (they are really really bad and painful), hips, fingers, wrists, elbows, shoulders, neck, and now even a spot in my back cracks sometimes when I breath.

I hate it. I get really bad cramps in my joints that spread to other joints and it seems to be getting worse. When I was 21 is when my knees started, and they get so bad I can barely walk sometimes. Also, my back started last year when I took a Pilates class, and I'm afraid if it keeps going the way it is I'll end up really bad.

If anyone knows what this might be, or has a similar problem, please let me know. I have been checking the internet off and on since about 7th grade, and haven't found anything yet. I have also gone to the drs for this when I was younger, before the majority of it started, but they did tests and ruled out arthritis and most other stuff. I saw probably 3 or 4 doctors and no one could figure out what is wrong with me.

Any Ideas?! Please help!

Any one know whats wrong with me?!

i would personally recommend that you go to a massage parlor or a spa and get a massage. have them work on those knots you're talking about. but if i were, i would have the doctor check it first.

Hmmmm....I have the same thing as you...EXCEPT...my joints don't hurt they all just crack daily and methodically.... all of them..fingers, wrists, hands(carpals), elbows, shoulders(gleohumeral joint), neck(cervical vertebrae), spine/back( thoracis Vertebrae) and lower back(lumbar vertebrae),Hips, knees, ankle, foot (Tarsals), and toes. Very Happy Pilates is intense and precise exercise, often responsible for muscle and joint pain, especially if you are already soar. Breathing can often cause joint cracking for me too. Deep inhales or exhales can release tension and cause popping.Again no pain though for me. In fact the opposite. Tension release and relaxation and fluid movement and mobility from the joint. Do you practice other high impact exercises like Running or hiking? I do. And these can cause joint inflammation or joint stress also.....

Breathing in and out is probably the fist thing that comes to mind for me when I think of releasing tension. I don't mean the simple thoughtless breathing that goes on through out a day. Although that has made joints crack for me. I mean Deep, Slow, Controlled breathing, focusing on relaxation and release. For example try sitting on the ground, legs straight out in front of you. reach forward and touch your toes, bring your chin toward your chest. In that 'hunched over' position begin to breathe in and out as Slow, deep and as long as posssible. Do this with the intention of letting go, relaxing and releaseing tension in your back and neck.do this for 5 or six deep slow long breaths. watch how much further forward you can reach after several breathes as the tension releases in your back. You may also get cracks in your Thoracic vertebrae(middle back) or your neck as your muscles become less tense and more stretched and relaxed. Keep it Cracking. Wink

i guess when you breathe your body lifts up slightly so that could affect your neck - it happens to me occassionally if that makes u feel better Smile
