I have been cracking my back and neck for many many years now (25-30), and there are still some cracks that I don't think I will ever forget.

My most memorable one happened some time ago. I had an occasion to sleep on a waterbed for several nights. I remember going to sleep on that Saturday night. I fell asleep flat on my back. The next morning when I woke up, I really didn't feel well as soon as I opened my eyes. My first thoughts made me realize that I was in the same position as I fell asleep in. My head felt very heavy, and all my joints felt very stiff. So, I twisted my back to my right side and the amount of cracks I got surprised me. It was the "domino's are falling" type of crack which started in my lower back, all the way up the Lumbar, and into my upper back.

Immediately, I felt 100% better. Turn over to my left side, and repeat. Same number of cracks. I just could not believe the difference I felt after those cracks.

I just wish I could crack like that more oftern.

I know how those cracks go. Waking up flat on your back will result in the most intense cracks.

Try pinching your inner thighs together. I do this often and have cracks so intense I almost vomit.

This was my first big spine crack. I was in the high school marching band doing a competition. We had to stand at attention holding our instruments in front of us for about 10 minutes before we went on. Then we did our 15 minute show where your body stays stiff and at attention the whole time. When it was over we were in the back of the stadium putting our instruments away. We had done our show at peak performance, so everyone was really happy. I stood up. One of my friends bear hugged me by grabbing my whole body quickly before I expected anything to happen. My arms were straight at my sides. He lifted me up right off the ground while squeezing me really hard. My entire spine popped from neck to tail bone. It started where his hands joined and one after another very rapidly hit each vertebrae going up and down at the same time like a ripple effect on the water. Prior to this my back had popped a couple times on its own, but only a little when I twisted it. I knew how to crack my fingers and toes, but I had never experienced anything like this. I think the way I had to hold my body stiff for the extended period had something to do with it cracking so readily. I also wonder if my friend had a back cracking compulsion like I do now and he wanted to crack my back. He acted like nothing happened, but he must have felt that. I didn't say anything because I was so shocked. My eyes were glazed over and I felt euphoric from that good crack.

I have thought about this for a while too, I thought that it would be interesting to hear about people's best cracks. A few of mine have come into mind. Once, when I was laying on my sofa, I must have had the pillows placed just right and I simply stretched and my whole spine cracked - it was amazing - I had never been able to crack my back by just stretching out before.

Another time, I went to crack my wrist and it cracked very loudly in several places - that was pretty cool and I've never been able to do it again.

Same goes here, I was twisting to crack my knee in the morning and my hip and anckle cracked as well. That was nice.

When cracking the back i always feel like i might do something very bad or crack something out of position etc so i have always been reluctant to do things apart from leaning over the back of my chair in school resulting in 3-5 cracks.

Funny I found this site today. Because today I had one of my best or favorite cracks in a while. Last night I practiced Bikram Yoga (intense yoga stretching in a room over 100 degrees hot) for the first time. It was awesome and challenging. I have practiced yoga for several years and it has brought the simple sloppy joint cracking of childhood to a scientific art of cracking if you will. In yoga classes it seems some people crack and others don't. If you do crack, you will OFTEN while practicing yoga. ANYWAY when I woke up this morning I did a simple push of my pelvis forward with a slight backbend and Wow , Big lumbar crack. Defintley a result of the intense spinal twists in class the night before. Is it me or does the lower lumbar , pelvis area make the biggest cracks? Crack away.........

I have been cracking for a long time. Every few years I am able to crack something new. When I was 11 or 12, about 20 years ago, my parents took me and my sister water skiing. Never having done this before I wasn't prepared for how sore my inner thighs would be a day or so after.

My legs just ached. While lying in bed I squeezed my legs together, and although it was slightly uncomfortable, it brought some relief. I did this for 5 or so minutes then an idea popped into my head (remember I am 11 years old at the time). I decided to squeeze my legs together as hard as I could. I kept the pressure on and after 10 seconds or so, both legs let out a tremendous crack. A little painful for a second or two, but what a difference it made in my soreness.

I still do this today and it does feel reall good. I am not really sure what joint is cracking though, or if it is even a joint. Might just be a ligament or tendon popping.

Unless you are like pulling your thighs in and cracking something in that area?

Interesting leg technique. So let me get it straight, your squeezing your thighs together? Are your knees together? do you do this laying down? Face up or face down? And where does the crack happen inner hip? outer hip? lower back? Holy Sh*t ! I just tried it sitting down in my recliner and the right side popped. Sweet.

I just did it and it worked. Something popped in my inner thigh where the leg meets the hip. It's wasn't a bone. If I were to guess I'd say it felt like a ligament. It didn't feel bad, but it didn't feel great either.
