dj100, Brian again...

This makes your situation sound different than mine. Do you also find a need to crack, which you then intentionally make happen? Since that is almost always my situation.

Your mention of a tight place off to the right of the lower neck sounds like my situation too, as I have said -- but with mine on the left (looking forward, obviously).

I am certain that the tight place is real, and due to compromised joint tissue -- in my case, some arthritis, no doubt, but not just that since I have had it since adolescence.

I would also like to tell you that my situation seems to be progressing rapidly, for the better. If yours turns out to be like mine, that may prove promising for you too. I will keep you posted, if I think of useful things to say about it.

I still recommend yoga.

Thanks, i will look into yoga next week when i go to gym.

And yes, it often needs to click.
But at the same time, it often JUST clicks, which is so annoying.

I get a weird by product aswell... basically I get loads of excess saliva in my mouth everytime my neck clicks, which is weird.

this whole clicking thing is really weirding me out...I mean, I have specific joints that "click" but not as a crack...if that makes any sense. I'm almost considering suggesting a doctor to make sure you don't have any slipped disks or anything, especially if it's in your neck.

The thing is, from my experience, doctors in the UK are absolutely useless when it comes to clicking/cracking.
I have seen over 6 different doctors regarding my neck, but none of them say there is anything wrong apart from my neck being a bit stiff.
For this they recommended a physio which I went to, but didnt really help.
They say the clicking is "normal".

OMW... I have this exact problem... I don't even have to try/want to crack my joints - they just crack.
This is really bothering me.
Initially I started cracking my fingers/knuckles back in 1998, It's moved on to almost all my joints, but now they just crack themselves!
I'm 24 in 3 months time and I feel I just need this to come to an end...but frankly, I don't even think it's possible.

Corticosteroid stops involuntary cracking of the joints. My hips would crack when I'd walk in the morning (creaky dancer's hips), now they don't. Its just a simple injection, similar to the cortosone ones they give you when you have a skin infection, etc.

Ask a doctor (and go to a new one, one that doesn't know you're obsessed with your f***ing neck).

Also, tell him everytime your neck cracks it hurts. Even though it doesn't, tell him it does so he'll give you the damn shot. Do your homework on the drug and its uses on www.webmd.com.

ok but can u give me a rundown about the drug please, just a quick summary if you've had it etc?

and i have also thought about lying about pain just to get an x-ray, but even then i doubt the next step would be surgery, so i may get this injection, but:

why havent i heard of it before?
also when i googled it, it said steroids, aren't they illegal?

not illegal.

Go to Wedmd.com like I said.

I totally and completely works. 100% works. My hips dont crack at all and they used to involuntarily crack and click ALL the time.

If you really want to address this, ask your doctor about it. A doctor cannot make you have surgery BTW. Just tell him it is not an option.

I get the feeling you don't really want to help yourself because you keep lagging on doing anything. This will be the last time I reply on this thread.
